The action will continue in Auckland on Tuesday, with Peng Shuai, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Julia Goerges, Roberta Vinci, Yanina Wickmayer and Monica Niculescu all scheduled to step on court. Top seed Sabine Lisicki has already earned a berth in round two, and the rest of the seeds will be keen to follow in her footsteps.

The field in this year’s ASB Classic is one of the best in recent years, with nine players ranked inside the top 32. Lisicki is being touted as the favourite, and her powerful game should be suited to the courts here in Auckland. Still, she’s in amongst some very capable opponents here, and there will be no shortage of competition for the title.
