Top seeded Novak Djokovic’s hopes of claiming his fifth Grand Slam trophy in a row is currently lying in tatters with the Serbian losing the first two sets of this third round clash to Sam Querrey of the United States. The match was suspended midway and will resume from the third set on Saturday.

Meanwhile, second seeded Briton Andy Murray will take on John Millman in his third round fixture at the centre court. Murray has had no trouble at the tournament this year, winning both his matches so far in straight sets. He beat Liam Broady in the first round before trumping Yen-Hsun Lu in the second round.

Millman downed Benoit Paire of France in four sets in his second round fixture here at The Championships. The Australian won the first set tie-breaker and the second set before Paire came back into the contest in the third set. However, the Australian proved too powerful in the decisive fourth set as he won 7-6(5), 6-3, 4-6, 6-2. He had earlier beaten Albert Montanes in a five-setter in the first round here.

Andy Murray will take to court today.

This will be the second career meeting between Murray and Millman. They met at the 2013 ATP Brisbane where Murray won in three sets and the second seed is expected to cruise to victory on Saturday.

Ladies fourth seed Angelique Kerber will take on Carina Witthoeft of Belgium as she looks to make it into the round of 16 here at The Championships. The match was supposed to be played yesterday but had been postponed as a result of rain in London.

Kerber defeated Laura Robson in the first round here before going on to beat Varvara Lepchenko in the second round. The Australian Open champion won in straight sets on both occasions.

Witthoeft has done well here thus far. She downed Kurumi Nara of Japan in her second round match after having defeated Irina-Camelia Begu in the first round. The German is yet to drop a set here so far.

These two ladies have met once in the past with their meeting coming at the first round at Wimbledon last year. Kerber won 6-0, 6-0 and will start as the favourite to win on Friday.

Fifth seeded Romanian Simona Halep is to open proceedings for the day when she takes on Kiki Bertens of Netherlands at the centre court. The match will be followed by the contest between Murray and Millman. Sixth seeded Milos Raonic of Canada will take on Jack Sock in the final fixture of the day at the centre court.

Ladies third seed Agnieszka Radwanska is also set to be in action on Court number three with the Pole pitted against Katerina Siniakova in the third round. Japanese fifth seed Kei Nishikori will play Andrey Kuznetsov of Russia in the opening fixture of the day at the same venue.
