1. He has two nicknames - the Mailman and the Milkman

Millman has been tagged with two primary nicknames since early on in his career - the ‘Mailman’ and the ‘Milkman’. Why? Because he always delivers. And that’s pretty much all that needs to be said!

"I'm pretty happy with that, I'll take either," Millman said back in 2013.

2. He won his first tour-level match in 2013 - seven years after turning pro

The road to the top of men’s tennis is a long one, but Millman’s journey has been littered with more obstacles than most. After toiling away on the unforgiving Challenger and Futures circuit (the second and third tiers of men’s tennis) for seven years, Millman finally claimed his first ATP victory at his home tournament in Brisbane in 2013, beating Tatsuma Ito before taking a set off Andy Murray in the second round.

3. He has a secret party trick - tying a knot with his tongue

Millman showcased his talents off the court earlier this year at Queen’s Club, revealing his secret party trick: tying a knot with a snake using his tongue.

We’ll just let the video do the talking…

4. Millman was working an office job just five years ago

Shortly after playing a brilliant match against Murray in Brisbane in 2013 and being on the cusp of a top 100 debut, Millman injured his troublesome shoulder and was forced to undergo surgery - one of three major operations the Australian has endured throughout the course of his career. With his ranking set to fall out of the top 1,000, Millman needed something to keep himself busy - and possibly prepare for life without tennis.

“I had an office job in Brisbane in 2013 at Red & Co,” Millman wrote for PlayersVoice earlier this year. “That was after my second shoulder surgery, one of the bigger operations you can have, so that was a full 12 months out. I didn’t know whether I could come back from that one.
“One of my mates, David Laverty, who first hit with me when I was 15 years old, is very successful in the business world. He could see that I was really struggling. And I was. It was really tough. There’s so much doubt in your head.”

5. His dad is known as ‘The Fox’

Papa Millman is just as legendary as his son. Case in point: this story from Wimbledon a few months ago when Ron Millman made the long trip from Australian to watch his son.
