Sixth seed Halep of Romania defeated Eugenie Bouchard in a gripping three-setter 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 in the fourth round, showing enough determination to get past the Canadian to set up a quarter-final meeting with Casey Dellacqua of Australia. Delacqua got a walkover from American Lauren Davis, who retired before the commencement of the match due to stomach flu.

This will be an interesting match up with Dellacqua having reached the fourth round of the Australian Open earlier this year.

In a clash of the titans yesterday, Jelena Jankovic annihilated rival Caroline Wozniacki 6-3, 6-1 in the fourth round to advance to the quarters. This was reminiscent of the 2011 finals of Indian Wells when Jankovic beat Wozniacki as well and as a result of this win, she will now meet second seed Agnieszka Radwanska.

Agnieszka Radwanska will be in quarter-final action today.

Radwanska had no trouble overcoming Alize Cornet of France late on Tuesday night 7-5, 6-3. The second seeded Pole holds a 4-2 lead in the head to head statistic against Jankovic.

In the men’s singles draw, 10th seed Canadian Milos Raonic will take the court against the British Andy Murray, seeded fifth for their fourth round encounter.

Raonic, who is recovering from a ligament injury, defeated Colombian Alejandro Falla 6-4, 6-3, after getting past Edouard Roger-Vasselin of France 7-6(4), 4-6, 7-6(2) earlier. Wimbledon champion Andy Murray sent home Czech Jiri Vesely in a tough match 6-7(2), 6-4, 6-4, in which the Brit was a set down and a break down in the second set before bouncing back.

Incidentally, Raonic leads 3-2 in the head to head between the two players.

Can Andy Murray make it to the last-eight stage?

Third seed Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka will play Kevin Anderson of South Africa in the fourth round today. Wawrinka emphatically defeated Andreas Seppi of Italy 6-0, 6-2 in the third round in less than an hour’s time, after he sent Croatian Ivo Karlovic packing in the second round 6-3, 7-5.

The Swiss has won in all their three previous meetings.

11th seed Tommy Haas faces a tough fourth round challenge in Swiss Roger Federer, seeded seventh. Haas booked his place after he beat Kei Nishikori 7-6(3), 6-2 while Federer held on to get past Dmitry Tursunov of Russia 7-6(7), 7-6(2) despite multiple breaks of serve by the Russian.

The Swiss holds a 9-1 lead against the German Haas in the last ten matches the duo has played against each other, the last win coming for the Swiss in Cincinnati last year.

Novak Djokovic will be in action today.

It won't get too easy for the 24th seeded Marin Cilic who takes on the world number two, Serbia's Djokovic for a place in the last eight.

Djokovic has an unblemished record against the Croatian, having won all their previous seven matches. Cilic beat Tommy Robredo 6-4, 6-3, in turn becoming the first player to record 20 match wins in 2014.

Djokovic, who has won this tournament twice in the past, got past Alejandro Gonzalez in a three setter 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 and will hope he can seal his quarter-final spot without too much trouble.
