This is turning out to be a big week for Croatia's Donna Vekic. The 16-year-old looks set to be a future star of the game, and she's made some huge steps towards establishing herself as a big talent at the Tashkent Open.

Vekic sailed through qualifying without dropping a set, and backed this up with wins over Magdalena Rybarikova, Lara Arruabareno-Vecino, Bojana Jovanovski and Eva Birnerova. Despite being pushed to three sets in her semi-final against Birnerova, Vekic was in charge throughout and would have won by a huge margin had she taken more of her break point opportunities (She won 5 of 19 break points).

Vekic can now look forward to her first ever WTA final, in which she'll meet Irina-Camelia Begu. Beu is also vying for her first ever WTA title so we can expect a real battle here in Tashkent.

Begu has also caused a bit of a stir in Tashkent. She eliminated second seed Urszula Radwanska in straight sets in the semi-finals. Many had touted the Pole as the favourite to win the tournament.

When Begu and Vekic meet on Saturday we can anticipate a thrilling final. This is a big day for Begu, but there's no doubting that a lot of attention will be on the Croatian here. Vekic could well go on to be one of the biggest names in the WTA, and many will be eager to see what she can do in a high-pressure situation such as this one.
