Victoria Azarenka’s breathtaking form in 2012 doesn’t appear to be on the wane anytime soon. The Belarusian has been playing superbly this week, and has worked her way into the final of the Mutua Madrid Open. She’ll take on Serena Williams, who is guaranteed to climb to sixth in the WTA rankings having made the final. Williams has no ranking points to defend for a while yet, and we can expect her ascendency of the rankings to continue.
Ahead of this final, the top odds on show for an Azarenka win are 28/17 with Bwin. Considering that Azarenka has only lost two matches all season, these seem to be generous odds. Williams holds a 6-1 match record against Vika, but the world No. 1 has been almost unstoppable following a seemingly very productive off-season at the end of last year.
Williams has only recently reemerged as a regular feature on the WTA tour, but she’s clearly not lacking sharpness. It seems to be the popular opinion that she’ll prevail on Sunday. You can currently back her to win at top odds of 8/13 with Boylesports. Although Azarenka is the top seed, few would be particularly surprised to see Williams clinch the victory on Sunday.
