Swedish duo Johanna Larsson and Sofia Arvidsson are flying the flag for the home fans as the quarter-finals get underway in WTA Bastad.
The Swedish Open live streaming will cover the quarters, semis and final over the next few days as Larsson looks to go one better than last year.
The powerful right-hander always seems to save her best for this tournament and after rain wiped out Thursday's play, she made a bright start early on Friday for her second round clash with third seed seed Anabel Medina Garrigues. The Spaniard may have plenty of experience but she had no answer to Larsson's power as she went down 6-4, 6-4.
Larsson will now play the fast improving young Czech Klara Zakopalova later today for a place in the last four. Zakopalova is the sixth seed this week and she announced herself to the world this year by reaching the last sixteen at the French Open. She was far too good for qualifier Mariana Duque-Marino in round two, crushing the Columbian 6-0, 6-1.
Sofia Arvidsson will have a tough task against seventh seed Mona Barthel after getting past the dangerous Aranxta Rus 6-4, 7-6 earlier today. Barthel has enjoyed a couple of days rest and is having a great season, winning the Hobart title at the start of the year.
And Polona Hercog looks to keep her hopes of defending her title alive against Bulgaria's Tsvetana Pironkova.
