Third seeded Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova takes on eighth seeded Vania King in the quarter-final of Pattaya Open WTA tennis tournament.
The Slovak has been in good form in the tournament, having dropped only seven games in the tournament so far. She won her first round match against Nungnadda Wannasuk 6-2, 6-0 before demolishing Urszula Radwanska in the second round 6-3, 6-2.
King too hasn’t had to sweat too much in the tournament so far. In her first round match against Heather Watson, she dropped six games before crushing Alla Kudryavtseva of Russia 6-1, 6-3 in the second round.
Hantuchova has played King six times before this match and won on all six occasions. Four of these wins came at the Grand Slams and barring the Wimbledon win of 2010, all the remaining victories were on hard court.
The Slovak has lost in the third round of two successive WTA tournaments this year, to Kim Clijsters at the Australian Open and against Petra Kvitova in the Apia International at Sydney. This should be an easier match for Hantuchova and she should be a favourite to make it to the semi-finals.
The Hantuchova v King quarter-final match at the Pattaya Open 2012 will be played on Friday, February 10.
