Bookmaker Coral has slashed the odds on Heather Watson winning the Wimbledon Ladies’ title to 200-1 (from 400-1), after the British player secured her place in the third round at SW19 today.

“Heather Watson was backed at 1000-1 for the title prior to her opening match on Monday, making her the worst result in our book at this stage, and although we’re not panicking just yet, we’ll be watching her progress with interest,” said Coral’s David Stevens.

Watson beat American Jamie Hampton 6-1, 6-4 in his second round match this morning and will now face either third seed Agnieszka Radwańska or Elena Vesnina on Friday.

French Open champion, Maria Sharapova still leads the betting at 2/1 with four-time champion, Serena Williams seeing plenty of money at 3/1. Last year's champion Petra Kvitova is 11/2 with former World No.1 Victoria Azarenka at 8/1.

Wimbledon Ladies’ Outright
2 Maria Sharapova, 3 Serena Williams, 11-2 Petra Kvitova, 8 Victoria Azarenka, 16 Kim Clijsters, 25 Angelique Kerber, Na Li, Samantha Stosur, 33 Agnieszka Radwanska, 40 Caroline Wozniacki, Marion Bartoli, 50 Bar (including 200-1 Heather Watson)
