Richard Gasquet takes on Arnaud Clement in his first match at the PBZ Zagreb Indoors.
Clement proved a bit of a problem opponent for Gasquet in his early years on the tour, winning three of their four matches. However they have not played since 2007 and Clement is approaching the end of his long career.
At 25, Gasquet should be approaching his peak but the enigmatic Frenchman continues to confound and disappoint when it comes to the major events. His third round loss to Tomas Berdych was disappointing one-sided though he has never performed well down under.
He will hope to enjoy more success on the indoor circuit over the next month after a few decent results in the autumn. As one of the best volleyers in this draw, he should be looking to at least make the semi-finals on the fast paced Zagreb surface.
Clement enjoyed a straight sets first round win over Mikhail Kukushkin but Gasquet should have just enough to see off 33 year old in two close sets.
