Jelena Dokic takes on Lucie Safarova in the BMW Malaysian Open final on Sunday.
Now 27, Dokic is enjoying a resurgence and she's in her first WTA final for eight years. She was close to the brink of defeat in her first round clash with top seed Francesca Schiavone but since battling through that match she has not looked back and played a smart match in the last four to see off Michaella Krajicek 6-2, 6-3.
"It's a good feeling to be in a final again," Dokic said. "I was nearly out of this tournament near the beginning twice and fought my way back somehow. No matter what happens tomorrow, I've been playing better and better," she added. "Today I was very on top of things - I'm very happy with my form. It's been a great start to the year for me."
Safarova has picked up her game after a slow start to 2011 and after coming through a tough bottom quarter which included Marion Bartoli and Dinara Safina, the Czech slugged her way past fourth seed Jarmila Groth in three sets. It's her first WTA final since the Paris Indoors last year.
Dokic and Safarova are 1-1 on the head-to-head but Dokic won the last one, just last month in three sets in Paris.
Prediction: The momentum seems to have been with Dokic all week and our prediction is for her to claim her first title since Birmingham 2002.
