In form Carlos Berlocq takes on second seed Florian Mayer in the second round of ATP Bucharest.
Mayer has enjoyed the best season of his career, cracking the top 20 for the first time due to some remarkable consistency in 2011. If he wins today he will have made his ninth quarter-final of the year.
Mayer may be one of the favourites this week in this very open draw but Bucharest has not been a great tournament for him over the past couple of years. He lost in the opening round in 2009 and 2010.
Berlocq nearly made the headlines at the US Open for all the wrong reasons, narrowly avoiding becoming the first player for 24 years to be triple bagelled when he came up against Novak Djokovic in the second round. However back on the challenger circuit, Berlocq has been in fine form winning the Todi Challenger last week. He was far too good for Andreas Haider-Maurer in the first round, crushing the Austrian 6-2, 6-1 and Mayer will have to start sharply.
