Victoria Azarenka made an ideal start to this year’s WTA Championships, but question marks were hanging over her title credentials following a three set loss against world No. 9 Marion Bartoli on Friday. Azarenka was back to her best on Saturday though, and she earned a berth in the final of the competition by beating Vera Zvonareva in straight sets (6-2, 6-3).
"I really tried to change my mentality from yesterday,” revealed the Belarusian. “It was a bit of a disaster, I'm glad I turned it around and came out strong."
Azarenka wasn’t given an easy ride by Zvonareva, the second set lasted for almost an hour. It seems like the defeat against Bartoli might not have been such a bad thing after all for Azarenka. She never lost focus, even when Zvonareva was clearly giving it her all and trying to break her down.
Speaking ahead of the final, Azarenka said, "Tomorrow is about sudden death. It's the last match at a very important tournament. It's the first time in the final for both of us and we both want to win. It'll take everything out of us and I hope we can show the best tennis we can."You can watch and bet on the action from the WTA Championships at bet365
