Victoria Azarenka faces a titanic clash with Germany's Angelique Kerber in the quarter-finals of the 2012 Olympics.

Kerber pulled off a dramatic quarter-final win on Wednesday against Sydney gold medallist Venus Williams. The American has struggled to contend for the big titles in recent years due to the debilitating effects of an auto-immune disease but she had been looking extremely impressive in the early rounds and she had her chances against seventh seed Kerber. Williams missed three set points in the opener before blowing a 5-1 lead in the tiebreak and she then led 3-1 in the second set before Kerber again came roaring back, ultimately winning 7-6(5), 7-6(5).
Azarenka was also made to fight hard against the big serving Russian Nadia Petrova, hanging tough to pull off a 7-6, 6-4 win.
Kerber's rise over the past year has been incredible and you have to pinch yourself when you realise that twelve months ago she wouldn't have made the German Olympic team. Now she's their leading contender for a tennis medal after making the Wimbledon semi-finals.
She'll have to play the match of her life to win this as Azarenka just moves so well and is super solid. They've only played once before with the Belarussian winning 6-4, 6-3 in Indian Wells back in March but she isn't looking quite so invincible right now and unlike Kerber, she has dropped a set so far this week so we'll see.
Prediction: Azarenka in three
