Fifth seed Evgeny Donskoy is enjoying a great week in Astana and he’ll surely be delighted about being one win away from the final. The Russian is looking to make a push towards the top hundred, and earn the right to try to improve upon his woeful 1-8 match record at ATP World Tour level.
The world No. 173’s next opponent will be Australia’s Brydan Klein. Klein is ranked just inside the top 300, but doesn’t seem likely to be too far off the pace, if at all. Having beaten third seed Andrey Golubev earlier in the week, the Aussie shouldn’t be feeling particularly daunted by the occasion on Sunday.
There’s no head-to-head history between these two players, so it’s hard to know what to expect in this semi-final. On paper, Donskoy perhaps has the edge, but there really isn’t much in this. This could turn out to be an exciting clash.
