Wildcard Christian Harrison takes on qualifier Sekou Bangoura in the opening round of the Lexington Challenger tonight.
18 year old Harrison (younger brother of top 100 star Ryan) will be watching on with admiration (and possibly slight envy) as his older brother competes in the Olympics next week but he's also cutting swathes through the ATP rankings and could be up inside the top 200 before too long.
Christian is currently at a career high ranking of 641 and has been enjoying some solid results in the futures so far this year but when handed a wildcard into the Binghampton Challenger last week he didn't look out of his depth at all, an encouraging sign for Harrison and his father (and coach) Pat.
He scored an impressive opening round win over world number 273 Tennys Sandgren before pushing Britain's Jamie Baker all the way in a three set defeat. As a result he's been rewarded with another wildcard into the Lexington Challenger this week.
However 20 year old Bangoura (ranked 746) has also been cruising up the rankings recently and he scored a 0-6, 6-1, 6-3 win over Harrison in a futures event on clay last year.
Prediction: Harrison in three.
