The Friuladria Credit Agricole Tennis Cup has been fiercely contested this week in Italy and we’re now down to the final four. The two semi-finals will begin this afternoon, and we can anticipate a high standard of tennis on the red clay here.
The first semi-final will be an all-seeded contest between third seed Filippo Volandri and seventh seed Daniel Gimeno-Traver. Volandri is in great form and hasn’t lost a set all week. Gimeno-Traver hasn’t found things quite as easy, but he did manage to record an impressive 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 success against top seed Blaz Kavcic.
Next up we’ll be treated to a showdown between fourth seed Paolo Lorenzi and the unseeded Victor Hanescu. Don’t be fooled by Hanescu’s status here. He’s currently ranked higher than two of the seeds and could be about to return to the top hundred. The big hitting Romanian will have to work hard against Lorenzi, but he stands a decent chance of winning the title.
