Rafael Nadal heads into his semi-final matchup against Gilles Simon at the Monte Carlo Rolex Masters as the heavy favourite, for obvious reasons. The Spaniard recorded his fortieth consecutive win at this event on Friday, and he now stands just two victories away from clinching his eighth successive title here. The best odds currently on offer if you back him to win are 1/18 with BetVictor.

Simon is being written off somewhat. The world No. 15 certainly seems to have a mountain to overcome, but the top odds of 12/1 being offered by Bet365 for a Simon victory seem to be pretty generous.

Set betting could well be the way forward for this matchup. For a 2-0 Nadal win, Bwin are providing odds of 1/4. For Nadal to win in three you can find optimal odds of 11/2 with Ladbrokes. This is a Masters 1000 event semi-final after all, and to expect Simon to be on the wrong end of a one-sided thrashing is perhaps to underestimate him.

There are big offerings if you back an unlikely win for the Frenchman in this format. Bet365 are currently giving odds of 20/1 for anyone willing to take a punt on Simon to win in three sets, whilst a straight sets success for Simon can be wagered on at 25/1 with Ladbrokes.
