Top seeded Djokovic will take on fourteenth seeded Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in the third fixture of the day at the court central. Djokovic beat Gilles Muller 6-3, 6-4 in the second round here after having a bye in the opening round. He had come into the tournament on the backs of defeat at the hands of Stan Wawrinka at the US Open final followed by a semi-final defeat to Roberto Bautista Agut at the Shanghai Masters.

Dimitrov had reached the final of the China Open in Beijing before falling to Andy Murray. Subsequently, he had made the second round at the Shanghai Masters and the semi-finals of the ATP Stockholm. He last featured at the ATP Basel where he suffered a first round exit at the hands of Gilles Muller. The Bulgarian had a bye in the first round here and benefitted from Marcos Baghdatis’ retirement midway through their second round clash.

Six previous meetings between these two men have seen Djokovic take a 5-1 lead in the overall head-to-heads. The Serb starts as the favourite to win the contest.

Second seeded Briton Murray will be up against French thirteenth seed Lucas Pouille in the next fixture of the day at the court central. Murray has won the last three tournaments that he has featured in – the China Open, Shanghai Masters and the ATP Vienna. He had a bye in the first round and started with a three set win over Fernando Verdasco in the second round here.

Pouille beat Feliciano Lopez in three sets in the second round in order to secure passage into the third. He had conceded the opening set before coming back into the contest to win 6-7(1), 6-3, 6-4. The Frenchman last featured at the ATP Vienna where he had been beaten in the first round.

Murray is going into this fixture as the favourite to win with a 2-0 win record in previous head-to-head contests.
