Second seeded Japanese star Nishikori will take on Dutch qualifier Thiemo de Bakker in the third contest of the evening at the cancha central. The Dutchman made his way to the main draw here after beating Eduardo Struvay and Alessandro Giannessi in the qualifiers.

De Bakker suffered back-to-back first round exits at Rotterdam and Delray Beach. He did make the second round after coming through the qualifiers at the ATP Auckland earlier this year. The Dutchman also made the second round at the ATP Sofia, where he was defeated by Andreas Seppi.

Nishikori is coming into the tournament on the backs of a tournament victory at the ATP Memphis. He beat Taylor Fritz in straight sets in the final at Memphis. Prior to that, the second seed had also made the quarterfinals of the Australian Open where he was beaten by Novak Djokovic. This will be the first career meeting between these two and the Japanese starts as the hot favourite to win.

Russian Pavlyuchenkova will be up against Urszula Radwanska of Poland at the cancha central in the evening. Radwanska beat Rachel Hogenkamp in three sets in the final qualifier to make the main draw here. She suffered a second round exit at the WTA Kaohsiung in her last tournament in the circuit.

The third seeded Pavlyuchenkova comes into this tournament on the backs of a quarterfinal appearance at the WTA St. Petersburg where she went down to Swiss teenage sensation Belinda Bencic in three sets. Prior to that, the Russian had crashed out of the Australian Open in the first round.

This will be the first career meeting between these two ladies. The Russian should be able to edge this contest on Monday.
