Mardy Fish and Richard Gasquet are in action in the Toronto Masters quarter-finals.
Gasquet reached the final of the Toronto Masters way back in 2006, losing to Roger Federer and he's made a spirited start to this year's tournament, defeating fourth seed Tomas Berdych 6-4, 6-2 in the quarter-finals. Gasquet broke the Czech in the very first game of the match and never took his foot off the gas, converting four of eleven break points to improve his head-to-head record against Berdych to 4-2.
Meanwhile Berdych's miserable summer continues and unless he enjoys some better results soon, he'll be dropping out of the world's top ten. Gasquet is looking to win his first title of the season but he'll be delighted if he can overcome Fish to make the last four.
Fish reached the final of this event last year and the American came through a stern test to defeat world number ten Juan Monaco. Monaco had won their last two matches and completely outplayed Fish in the Miami Masters quarters earlier this year. He looked on course for a similar result after taking the first set 6-2. However the American turned the match on his head before breaking late in the decider to win 2-6, 6-1, 6-4.
Prediction: Fish to battle through this one in three sets
