Top seed John Isner takes on compatriot Ryan Sweeting in a hard hitting second round clash at the Delray Beach Tennis Championships.
Naturally for a player with his game, Isner has played thousands of tiebreaks during his career but rarely has he experienced a nail-biter like the one he played against Jesse Levine in Tuesday's first round clash.
Isner sneaked through 6-4, 7-6(15) and afterwards joked, “I’m playing with the house money now !”
“The humidity was really starting to get to me, and I am not sure I would have made it through a third set. It was not so much the heat, but after several weeks playing indoors, the humidity was starting to take its toll.”
This tournament is the first outdoor hard court event of the year on the North American swing and everyone's struggling to adjust with the seeds tumbling left, right and centre as the first round got underway.
Ryan Sweeting will simply be looking to keep Isner out there as long as possible. He produced an impressive display to crush Donald Young 6-1, 6-1 on Monday, as the US Open quarter-finalist sprayed the ball everywhere in windy conditions.
Prediction: Isner in another tight two setter.
