Serena sets sights on Wimbledon title

LONDON, ENGLAND - JULY 03: Serena Williams of the USA celebrates after winning her Ladies' Singles quarterfinal match against Petra Kvitova of Czech Republic on day eight of the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on July 3, 2012 in London, England. Serena Williams has put her French Open disaster well and truly behind her, and having made it through to the semi-finals of Wimbledon 2012, she seems capable of winning a fifth title at the All-England Club.

Whilst the American hasn’t exactly revealed how she rates her prospects here, her recent post-match  interview comments indicate that she’ll be disappointed if she doesn’t win the title. When asked if she was the favourite, she answered, “I don't think about it. I just think I can do the best I can. You know, I still have hopefully two more matches to play and win. That's my goal.”

Although Serena knows how to handle defeat, her competitive spirit is still as fierce as ever. “Yeah, I hate losing,” revealed the sixth seed at the press conference. “If I lose, I don't keep the trophy. So semifinal, it's great in a way, but at the end of the day if you're not first, you're last.”

It’s great to see that Williams still has the desire to play on and win more slams. Victoria Azarenka can expect a difficult semi-final against her on Thursday.
