Nicolas Kiefer will be hoping for a Wimbledon upset when he faces Wimbledon ninth seed David Ferrer, in the second match on Court 2 on Tuesday.

Kiefer and Ferrer will be facing off for the third time in their careers when they meet at Wimbledon.

Nicolas Kiefer will be hoping for a similar result to their first encounter six years ago at the Canada Masters, with Kiefer creating a 6-3, 6-1 scoreline that would be a major upset today.

Their more recent clash provided a five set thriller 6-3, 5-7, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2, at last year's French Open. Ferrer is the considerable favorite for a repeat victory and to beat Kiefer once again.

Form is something that both players lack, with Ferrer having fallen at the first hurdle at this year's French Open with defeat to Jurgen Melzer. Nicolas Kiefer, although undoubtedly talented has suffered due to his lack of match practice.

Having played only three ATP matches this year after recurring injuries Kiefer is straggling down at No. 178 in the world.

Ferrer will hope to ease through to the second round of Wimbledon along with a large Spanish contingent of players. However if he can reignite his talent Kiefer could provide an upset.
