After losing a one-sided first set, Li appeared to be on her way out, but she managed to get back in the match, winning a close second set before sealing a 1-6, 7-5, 6-2 win. She will meet Victoria Azarenka in the final.
Azarenka also came back from a set down in the final four, where she took on Agnieszka Radwanska, Radwanska started the contest full of confidence after a quarter-final victory against Wozniacki, but Azarenka found her feet early in the second set to wrap up a 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 success.
Li didn’t finish the 2011 season particularly well, and her form dipped noticeably after her early Wimbledon exit. She appears to be back to her best though, and is now just one win away to defending the title she won last year prior to her remarkable Australian Open campaign.
Azarenka will be a tough opponent for her though. The Belarusian world No. 3 excelled last year, and could be ready to make a major challenge for the first slam title of her career this season.
