Following the withdrawal of Andrea Petkovic, Lisicki had been headlining the German side, but she fell short against Petra Kvitova, and surprisingly, Iveta Benesova.
Fortunately, the world No. 14 will have a chance to make amends this week when she meets Lucie Safarova in the first week of the WTA Paris Open.
Lisicki might not have prospered in Stuttgart, but she should still be tipped to do well here, even though she’s up against another highly-ranked Czech opponent. Regardless of the weekend’s results, Lisicki is still a player who has all of the weapons required to be successful on indoor hard courts.
Safarova, as the world No. 28, clearly isn’t an easy opponent. She hasn’t managed to hit much form yet in 2012, but the season is young, and we’ll surely see some big performances from her this year. This should be a close match, but Lisicki should be able to get back to winning ways.
