Na Li will take on Chanelle Scheepers for a place in the quarter-finals of this week’s Apia Sydney InternationalYou can watch and bet on Li v Scheepers live for free at bet365 > live tennisNa Li’s title defence at the Apia Sydney International began well on Monday, as she overcame the threat of Ekaterina Makarova in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3. Li, who will also be aiming to achieve big things at the forthcoming Australian Open, defeated Makarova with ease, but still feels that she needs to work on her serve ahead of her second round meeting with Chanelle Scheepers.
"Makarova, I think in the beginning of the set she didn't play her best tennis, so that's why I was winning easy in the first set,” remarked Li after her victory. “But second set, she tried to stand up. I was happy about how I was moving on the court, to see how to hit the shot. But maybe I should work a little bit more on my serve because in the second set my serve didn't work. So that's why at, like 4-3, I called the coach.”
When asked about the Australian Open, Li remarked. “Last year is over, so I don't have to think about what I do already last year. I mean, everyone have to look forward to see what you should do right now. Right now I'm still in Sydney, so I'm not thinking about Melbourne, you know. I have to focus on this tournament first.”
