Kim Clijsters and Ana Ivanovic are set for a thrilling second round encounter at the WTA Brisbane OpenYou can watch and bet on Clijsters v Ivanovic live for free at bet365 > live tennisKim Clijsters made an emphatic return to the WTA Tour this week with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Simona Halep in the first round of the WTA Brisbane Open, and she seems to be ready to mix it up with the world’s best once again. After five months out, the Belgian cruised past Halep, and could be in the right kind of form to put up a successful title defence at this year’s Australian Open.
Her next contest will be against Ana Ivanovic, a match that fans in Brisbane will be eagerly awaiting. Ivanovic, a former French Open champion, has enough weapons to give her fellow former world No. 1 something to think about.
Still, Clijsters looked to be on song earlier in the week, and barring a few errors in the second set, was happy with her performance. "I was pretty pleased with the way I served and I felt confident with the way I served,” commented Clijsters after her opening match. “That is something that in the past wasn't always the case.”
"I had a good feeling, I felt that I was playing aggressively and moving well. For the first time, I was pretty satisfied." More of the same from Clijsters could put her through to the quarters, but Ivanovic will be out to prove a point herself. The Serb finished 2011 in style, and should have big ambitions for the 2012 season.
