The Estonian wrapped up the Brisbane International title on Saturday with a convincing 6-2, 6-1 victory over Daniela Hantuchova. For the second match in a row, Kanepi didn’t even have to face a break point on her serve.
"I haven't really realized how well I have played, what I have achieved and who I have beaten," remarked Kanepi, who certainly deserves plenty of praise for what she’s achieved here in Brisbane. "It doesn't happen too often that I win matches with that score. It was my week," she continued.
Hantuchova admitted after the match that she’d been second best throughout. "She didn't give me too many chances, it was a tough night for me. She was better in all the departments of the game."
Following this superb week, it will be exciting to see what Kanepi can do in the next few months. She produced some stunning performances against Caroline Wozniacki at the end of the 2011 season, and if she can maintain this form, she could be able to close in on the top ten this year.
