Jarmila Gajdosova will be up against Monica Niculescu in round one of the WTA Paris OpenYou can watch and bet on Gajdosova v Niculescu live for free at bet365 > live tennisJarmila Gajdosova enters this year’s WTA Paris Open with plans of hitting the kind of form required to propel herself up the rankings. The Australian’s form has been very patchy this season, with a heavy Fed Cup defeat against Marion Bartoli being a particular low. She’ll be aiming to find a way around Monica Niculescu on Tuesday in round one of the WTA Paris Open, in a match that could prove to be a very testing one.
The Aussie’s unpredictable form couldn’t have been made more obvious than it was in Fribourg this weekend. She went down in three sets against the world No. 124, Stefanie Voegele, and then went on to beat scrape past Amra Sadikovic, the world No. 219, 6-3, 3-6, 8-6.
Even though the win wasn’t convincing, Gajdosova seemed pleased to have at least gotten back to winning ways. “I am happy to win the point that secures the ties for the team. They showed faith in me and the team has been very supportive. The Fed Cup means a lot to me. I was so disappointed with my loss and shed a tear afterwards,” admitted the world No. 40.
Gajdosova will have to raise her game against Niculescu. The Romanian is ranked above her, and won the only previous meeting between the pairing. With this in mind, it looks like Niculescu is the likely victor, though Gajdosova may be a threat if her win at the weekend has boosted her morale.
