Christina McHale faces a tough WTA Paris opener against Kaia KanepiYou can watch and bet on McHale v Kanepi live for free at bet365 > live tennisAmerican youngster Christina McHale has a big future ahead of her, and she’ll be hoping that she can make strides towards winning the first WTA title of her career this week in Paris. The American was in action this weekend in America’s Fed Cup win over Belarus, where she helped her side to a 5-0 win.
McHale seems to be playing well at the moment, having beaten Anastasiya Yakimova 6-0, 6-4 on Saturday, and Darya Kustova 6-0, 6-1 on Sunday. If she keeps playing like this, the 19 year-old could be set for success at the Open GDF Suez. However, she’s got a tougher contest on her hands in the first round here, against Estonia’s Kaia Kanepi.
Kanepi has been in ruthless form this year, and has already won a WTA title (WTA Brisbane). This big achievement included wins over Francesca Schiavone, Andrea Petkovic, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Daniela Hantuchova. Only an in-form Ekaterina Makarova has beaten her this season.
This has the makings of a very close match. Kanepi finished 2011 strongly, and she could realistically get back in the top twenty this year. McHale will be confident though, and she has the potential to one day get inside the top ten. It will be exciting to see what she can do here.
