Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova will meet Kaia Kanepi in the second round of the WTA Brisbane OpenYou can watch and bet on Pavlyuchenkova v Kanepi live for free at bet365 > live tennisAnastasia Pavlyuchenkova enjoyed an easy start to her 2012 season earlier in the week, as her first round clash with Polona Hercog ended early as the Slovenian was forced to retire. The seventh seed had been coasting to victory, and led 6-1, 4-1 when play was abandoned. The Russian could be a title contender here, and it will be intriguing to see how she fares against her second round opponent, Kaia Kanepi.
Kanepi was worked hard in her first round encounter with Alexandra Panova of Russia. Panova was threatening to get the better of the Estonian after clinching the second set, but Kanepi rode out the storm to win 7-5, 3-6, 6-2. Although Kanepi would surely have preferred a more straightforward result, she’ll perhaps have benefited from the court time at this stage in the season.
Kanepi is ranked below Pavlyuchenkova, but she holds a 2-0 head to head record against the world No. 16. Pavlyuchenkova is only twenty years-old though, and this time around she might be able to close the gap between the pairing. This could be a big season for Pavlyuchenkova, and she’ll be hoping to start it with a lengthy run here in Brisbane.
