Caroline Wozniacki began her WTA Championships campaign with a win on Tuesday, fighting back  from a set down to clinch a 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 success. The world No. 1 dropped three set points in the first set, but regained her composure in the second. When the pairing were tied at 4-4 in the third, it was Wozniacki that took the the initiative.

"Agnieszka has been playing very well lately,” commented Wozniacki after the contest. “It was a bit frustrating not to get the first set after having three set points, but I managed to keep my head cool and fight back. In a match like this, it's small points and small things that make a difference. I won most of the important points in the third set. I just kept focusing on one point at a time."

Radwanska has now slipped to a 0-5 match record against world No. 1’s, but she wasn’t too downbeat about losing. "I lost against the No.1 in the world, and it was a good match until the end. Of course I had my chances. I made a little too many mistakes sometimes in the important moments, and the surface is different and I'll have to get used to it, but I think I can play better in the next match. I didn't play badly, but I could feel more comfortable."
