Dan Cox, the 5ft 6in youngster from Lincoln, justified his Wimbledon qualifying wild card with a 6-3, 1-6, 8-6 win over Ireland's Conor Niland, who is six inches taller and 360 places higher in the rankings.
"Size isn't everything. Because I'm much closer to the ground I feel I can move better than everyone else," said Cox after pulling off the biggest win of his career.
"If I serve big, volley well and hang in there like I did today there's no reason why I can't go further," said the 18 year old Brit. Dan Cox is now two wins away from the Wimbledon main draw after emerging from last week's Wimbledon pre-qualifying event.

Fellow Briton Alex Slabinsky, 23, also reached the second round, beating Romania's Adrian Cruciat 6-4, 6-4.
However the Wimbledon qualifyiers weren't as kind to Chris Eaton, who reached last year's Wimbledon second round, when he failed to qualify against Frenchman Stephane Robert.
