Kim Clijsters, Belgium's top player on the WTA tour, has hit a patch of bad tennis as the world number two continued a recent pattern of losing to low-ranked players at this week's event in the Netherlands.

Clijsters lost to Romina Oprandi of Italy, a player ranked 82nd on tour at the moment. To make matters look worse, Clijsters lost in straight sets 7-6, 6-3 and the loss follows a shock loss at the French Open where Clijsters fell to Arantxa Rus.

Clijsters is ranked second in the world at the moment as she holds the US Open title and the Australian Open title. However with recent losses to the world number 82 and the world number 114 (Rus) you have to wonder if the Belgian can properly be considered a serious competitor at Wimbledon.

The Belgian has never won the event before and last season she suffered a loss in the quarterfinals. Based on her current form she might do well just to make it the final eight later this month as the world number two is struggling against players who she might face right in the opening round.

Clijsters has not turned in an outstanding result since February when she made the final of WTA Paris and with Wimbledon the next event coming up on tour, she must turn things around immediately if she is to challenge for the grass court Grand Slam (June 20th to July 3rd).
