Nadal 6-3, 2-1 Berdych: 0-15 - Berdych stays patient and waits for short ball from Nadal, attacks the net to the Nadal forehand, bit of a risky tactic but it pays off as the Spaniard nets, 15-15 - Berdych attempts a drop shot but touch shots are not really the Czech's forte and he nets it, 30-15 - classic 1-2 punch from Nadal, heavy serve, forehand into the open court, 40-15 - Berdych catches a backhand return, rips it cross-court and has the opportunity to finish the point with a swinging drive volley but can't quite execute it, Game - Nadal's swinging serve down the middle to the Berdych backhand is regularly getting the Czech off balance in this match and it works well again

Nadal 4-3 Berdych: 0-15 - deep forehand from Nadal, Berdych mistimes a forehand cross-court, sends it wide, 0-30 - Berdych in a spot of bother here, goes for a backhand down the line but doesn't really commit to it and sends it 7 feet long, 0-40 - Berdych thumps a forehand cross-court and is into the net but Nadal on the full stretch and way behind the baseline somehow manages to flick it down the line, 15-40 - Berdych holds his nerve in the rally dictating with several forehands..needs some first serves now though, Game - Nadal breaks with heavy backhand

Nadal 3-3 Berdych: 15-0 - Nadal jams Berdych with another body serve, the Czech can only net, 30-0 - couple of big forehands from Nadal, the first one straight at Berdych, the Czech does well to get out of the way and react but has no chance on the second, 40-0 - 3rd ace from Nadal, 40-15, 40-30 - Berdych slams backhand return down the line, Nadal can't control the forehand, Game - swinging serve out wide from Nadal, Berdych can't float the slice back in play  

Nadal 2-3 Berdych: 15-0 - Berdych attacks behind a deep forehand, does well with difficult low volley and then reads Nadal's attempted pass perfectly, 15-15 - Berdych rips a backhand cross-court and heads to the net again but Nadal reads it and curls a pass cross-court, 30-15 - Berdych is really looking to get forward today and he does so again behind a heavy forehand, easy volley into open court, 40-15 - Nadal just misses with a backhand return, looking to pressurize the Berdych 2nd serve, Game - sledgehammer forehand from Berdych, no way that one was coming back

Nadal 2-2 Berdych: 15-0 - ace down the middle, 30-0 - big body serve, curving into Berdych with the leftie spin and the Czech frames it into the crowd, 30-15 - Nadal fails to put away two smashes, Berdych reading both and smashing a forehand back down the line, 30-30 - Berdych takes a gamble on a backhand cross-court, finds the corner and gets an easy short forehand to put away, 40-30 - ball checks slightly on a Nadal 2nd serve and Berdych mistimes the return, Game - swinging serve out wide   

Berdych has quite a physical presence on the court and with the grass getting firmer and more like a hard court by the end of the fortnight this helps the Czech's game a lot more

Nadal 1-1 Berdych:  15-0 - ace down the middle, 30-0 - Nadal pushes Berdych wide with a forehand, the Czech tries to float a slice back down the line but just wide, 40-0 - big serve and forehand from Nadal, Berdych nets attempted pass, Game - return long

Nadal 0-1 Berdych:  15-0 - decent rally to start with, Nadal just pushing a backhand cross-court wide, 30-0 - heavy serve down the middle, Nadal's slice flops limply into the net, 40-0 - that's why Berdych can be so dangerous, big serve down the middle, forehand into the corner, Game - Nadal just misses with a forehand and its the perfect start for Berdych    

Nadal is the favourite for the final and is going for his eighth grand slam title here while Berdych is competing in his first slam final. 2010 has been a breakthrough year for the Czech who also made the last four at Roland Garros and reached the Miami Masters final.

Berdych has hit the headlines with two sensational performances to beat Roger Federer and then Novak Djokovic. However Nadal’s level of tennis in his straight sets semi-final win over Andy Murray was reminiscent of his 2008 Wimbledon triumph.

Nadal has won seven of his ten matches against Berdych and beat the Czech at Indian Wells earlier this year. Berdych seems to have discovered a new inner confidence in his ability over the past few months but over five sets it is hard to see him causing the upset.
