Federer takes on regular practise partner Philipp Kohlschreiber, a player he has dropped just one set to in previous matches. Kohlschreiber was striking the ball with plenty of venom last week but has been pushed to three sets in both his matches so far in Cincinnati.

Nadal plays Julien Benneteau for the first time in five years. The Frenchman will look to rush the Spaniard and get to the net but Nadal loves a target so Benneteau has an uphill task on his hands.

Robin Soderling plays Andy Roddick in a fascinating night session match. Soderling was pushed to the brink by Lleyton Hewitt in round two and he will need to raise his game to take out Roddick at one of his favourite tournaments. The American is loving the faster hard courts with his big serve. Soderling is not exactly a sluggish striker of a tennis ball either and this one will probably come down to a handful of points.
