The 2012 Cincinnati Masters sees Andy Murray return as defending champion while Roger Federer is seeking an incredible fifth title.

Murray will be going for his ninth Masters 1000 title this week. The British star must wish that Grand Slam titles would come this easy ! He claimed his second Cincinnati crown in 2011 in slightly unfortunate circumstances with Novak Djokovic having to retire with a shoulder injury in the final.
Back at the top of the world rankings, Federer will be a strong contender once again. The Swiss loves playing in Cincinnati as the ball flies so quickly through the air and favours the players who like to take risks and get forward. He's won here four times so far and it's been one of the few stops on the tour where he's still been able to dominate even with the emergence of Djokovic, Murray and Rafael Nadal over the past seven years.
Nadal has never won the Cincinnati title and after his recent struggles with knee tendonitis, it seems unlikely that he'll manage it this year. If he's fit to compete, he'll simply be looking to get as much match practise in as possible ahead of the US Open.
Djokovic has also never triumphed at this event although he's come close numerous times. Murray frustrated him back in the 2008 final and then Federer beat him at the same stage a year later. He'll be hoping it can be fourth time lucky should he make the final again.
Andy Roddick is a two-time Cincinnati champion and after enjoying some good form recently (he won the Atlanta title), he'll be hoping he can get a decent draw and reach the latter stages.
