Caroline Wozniacki attempts to reach her second clay court final in a row when she takes on Agnieszka Radwanska in tonight's semi-finals.
Wozniacki was highly impressive in Thursday's quarter-finals, avenging her Miami Masters defeat to Andrea Petkovic. Backed by a vociferous home crowd the German was well on top early on, springing out to a 4-1 lead and she even had points for 5-1. However Wozniacki hit back strongly, reeling off 5 straight games to claim the first set. Petkovic's head fell and the Dane went on to seal a comfortable 6-4, 6-1 win.
"To win those games in a row from 4-1 down was great for me and I started playing some great tennis," Wozniacki said. "Andrea was playing well and I was making a few errors, but I just kept doing what I knew I needed to do, stuck to my gameplan, and everything just worked out for me today."
Radwanska then put paid to another home hope enjoying a hard fought 7-5, 6-3 win over Kristina Barrois. The aggressive Barrois mixed up her game well and gave Radwanska considerable problems with her combination of heavy topspin and deep, penetrating slices. However the Pole stuck to her tactics and battled through to reach her first semi-final since last summer.
Both Wozniacki and Radwanska are good friends and even go on holiday together so this will not be the easiest of matches for either. Wozniacki leads the head-to-head 3-1 though and as ever will be favourite.
