Caroline Wozniacki bids for a hat-trick of Pilot Pen titles in New Haven this week.

Two-time champion Wozniacki is top seed this week. The Dane will also lead the field at the US Open which begins next Monday. She has played a lot of tennis recently, winning her home-town event in Copenhagen at the start of August and producing a strong performance in Montreal where as we go to press, rain has delayed the semi-finals and final till Monday.

Sam Stosur missed the Cincinnati and Montreal tournaments with a right arm injury and the French Open runner-up will be hoping she can play herself into form this week as second seed.
Roland Garros champion Francesca Schiavone is the third seed. The Italian made a slow start to the hard-court swing but regrouped strongly in Montreal, making the quarters. Elena Dementieva has taken a wildcard and will be the fourth seed. The Olympic champion has had some tough draws of late but will be disappointed with a sequence of early exits.

Marion Bartoli and Flavia Pennetta have both been looking dangerous on the hard courts this summer and they are in the top eight seeds.
