Caroline Wozniacki looks to become the first player ever to win four New Haven titles when she takes on Petra Cetkowska in tonight's final.
Wozniacki's completely turned her summer around with a sterling showing in New Haven this week. The Dane loves the quicker conditions and she produced one of her best matches for several months to defeat French Open runner-up Francesca Schiavone 7-6, 6-3 last night.
"Francesca is a tough opponent and we had some good rallies, one of them where we both kind of stretched all we could, and I came out on top - it was a very important point in the first set," Wozniacki said. "It goes one way one day, the other way another day. I'm just happy it went my way today."
Cetkowska's run this week has come completely out of the blue. The Czech started the tournament as just another unknown qualifier but she's taken out some of the form players of the summer in Marion Bartoli and Agnieszka Radwanska and last night she stunned French Open champion Li Na.
"I don't know too much about her, but she's obviously playing well. She has won so many matches in a row and beat Li Na, who is a great player," Wozniacki said, looking ahead to today's clash. "It doesn't happen a lot where you play someone for the first time in a final. It's definitely different. But at the same time, it's the same thing for her too."
