Jelena Jankovic heads the Monterrey Open field with most players hoping to fine-tune their games ahead of Indian Wells.

Jankovic is the only big name in action in Mexico with most of the top ten taking a week out ahead of the big tournaments in the States over the next month. She is 3/2 to win the tournament with Betfair.  However it is not particularly good value as Jankovic, the world number nine, could do with finding some form after a barren run of late.

She is by no means a cert to win the title this week after an early exit at the Australian Open followed by a third round loss in Dubai.

The talented young Canadian seventh seed Aleksandr Wozniak could provide her with plenty of problems in the quarter-finals. Wozniak is 51/10 for the title with Betfair.

18 year old Russian third seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova could also be in trouble early on as she is set to meet Slovenia’s Polana Hercog in the second round, with Hercog having just reached the Acapulco final last week.

In the bottom half of the draw, two time Indian Wells champion Daniela Hantuchova is second seed. Like Jankovic, Hantuchova could also do with a good run in this tournament, she is yet to go past the quarters in any event so far this year. She is 171/50 for the title with Betfair.

Watch out for Lucie Safarova, the big hitting eighth seed who is powering than capable of powering her way through Hantuchova’s half of the draw to reach the final. Safarova is on a hot streak of form having reached the Paris Indoors final a few weeks ago.

Given that run Safarova is a very good price at 51/10 to win the tournament with Betfair.
