Jelena Jankovic is hunting some form in the Monterrey Open this week and she begins against Anastasija Sevastova.

Jankovic the world number nine was last seen in action in Dubai, where she reached the third round before crashing out 6-3, 6-2 to Vera Zvonereva.

It summed up Jankovic’s season so far, a poor Australian Open run and precious few wins to show for the first couple of months. The Serbian has not been her tenacious usual self and is perhaps a little burnt out.

That seems the only explanation for Jankovic’s perplexing start to 2010 after a strong finish to last season, winning a big tournament in Tokyo and then reaching the semi-finals of the season ending WTA Championships in Doha.

She will be strong favourite against the Latvian Sevastova who has recently burst into the top 10, reaching a ranking of 73 after some strong performances in challengers last year.
