A high quality eight player field will be heading to Bali this week to compete for the Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions title.
Marion Bartoli, Sabine Lisicki, Roberta Vinci, Daniela Hantuchova, Anabel Medina Garrigues and Nadia Petrova are here as direct qualifiers, following successful seasons. Joining them, will be Ana Ivanovic and Shuai Peng, who have been handed wildcard entries for this event.
Bartoli is considered by many to be the favourite here, and she seems to be in good form. She made a sole appearance at the WTA Championships as a stand in for Maria Sharapova, and she impressed, recording a three set win over Victoria Azarenka.
The rest of the field will be competitive, and Bartoli can expect a serious challenge from all seven of the other contestants. Sabine Lisicki in particular should be a major threat. The German is very adept on hard courts, and her opponents will need to find a way to deal with her powerful serve.
