Viktor Troicki will take on Tommy Robredo on Thursday for a place in the fourth round of the Monte Carlo Rolex MastersYou can watch and bet on the action from the ATP Monte Carlo Open at bet365Viktor Troicki is the eleventh seed in this week’s Monte Carlo Rolex Masters, but was involved in a lengthy second round match against Fabio Fognini of Italy. The Serb looked to be in trouble after losing the second set, but pulled through with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 win. He will now face the experienced Spaniard Tommy Robredo in round three.
Robredo didn’t experience the same kind of problems in round two, and hasn’t even come close to losing a set here in Monte Carlo. He shocked the crowd with a sublime 6-4, 6-3 success against sixth seed Fernando Verdasco, and will have his sights set on eliminating another seeded opponent on Thursday. Robredo has made a great start to the season, and could have a successful clay court season ahead of him.
Robredo has a 2-1 head to head record against Troicki, but was beaten by the world No. 16 in last year’s French Open in straight sets. The pairing have a 1-1 record on clay. Bizarrely, none of the contests between these two players went beyond straight sets.
