Vera Zvonareva can advance to the next round of the Australian Open on Saturday with her reward potentially being a quarter-final clash with tournament favourite Serena Williams.
Zvonareva has impressed in Melbourne this week. The 25-year-old disposed of Kristina Kucova with ease in the first round (6-0 6-2) before beating Iveta Benesova (6-0 6-3) to reach this stage.
Dulko has made the headlines this week after dumping out number 20 seed Ana Ivanovic in the last round. After winning 6-7(6) 7-5 6-4, there's no doubt that the 24-year-old Argentine will be in confident mood ahead of Saturday's match.
But it is worth bearing in mind that Dulko's win over Ivanovic came despite her racking up a total of 71 errors. Ivanovic's serve was terrible in that game and if she had managed to iron those problems out, it is unlikely Dulko would have won the game.
Dulko also committed 10 double faults against Ivanovic as she too struggled with her servce. She won only 32 per cent of points from her second serve, which she relied on since only 60 per cent of her first serves were in.
Another performance like that against Zvonareva, and there's no doubt that Dulko will be heading home this weekend.
Zvonareva reached the semi-finals here last year and while the same again this year will likely be too much to ask, the 1/4 on her winning on Saturday should come in, while the 8/11 on a straight sets win could also prove to be profitable.
