Venus Williams will play her first round match at Wimbledon on Monday as she faces Akgul Amanmuradova, a player that doesn't appear threatening.
Venus Williams, the five-time champion from Wimbledon, is a huge favorite entering her first round match at the All England Club as the American prepares for her match against Akgul Amanmuradova (Williams 1/50, Amanmuradova 11/1;

The two players have never met on tour but it is hard to picture Williams losing to such a low ranked player on the grass courts of Wimbledon and Amanmuradova is barely in the top 100 on the women's tour (97th).
Williams warmed up for Wimbledon by participating in the Eastbourne draw where she defeated both Andrea Petkovic and Ana Ivanovic before falling to Daniela Hantuchova in three sets. Despite the quarterfinal loss the results from that tournament have to be considered encouraging and the American could be dangerous at Wimbledon for certain.
Williams will do well to work out any problems she might be having with her early round matches before facing the stiffer competition later in the tournament.
Her opening match will take place on Court No. 2, the first match scheduled for the court on Monday, with a start time of 12 noon.
