Venus Williams and Jelena Jankovic meet in the quarter finals in Rome

The Internazionali BNL d’Italia is really hotting up, and the quarter final match between Venus Williams and Jelena Jankovic should provide some great entertainment. Both competitors have been in superb form this season, and this is match that could go either way.
After making the quarter finals at the Australian Open, Williams has gone on to win in Dubai and Acapulco, and has only lost once, against Kim Clijsters in Miami. Victory on the clay courts of Acapulco will give Williams a mental edge here in Rome, and there’s a chance that she’ll add to her tally of clay court titles this season. Obviously, Jankovic is amongst the best in the women’s game, and has the ability to really push Williams here. However, despite a great outing at Indian Wells, and some other very good results, Jankovic hasn’t quite matched Williams’s awesome form. In addition to this, Jankovic hasn’t really got going on clay yet this season, and seems likely to face a struggle in this match.

Expect a very intriguing match, with Williams likely to make the semi finals. The winner will face either Serena Williams or Maria Kirilenko in what should be a major highlight of this year’s event.
