Berdych may have a Wimbledon final under his belt but the Czech really didn't perform when it mattered on Saturday night, producing an error-strewn display to crash out 6-3, 7-5.

The match was billed as a battle of the big servers but with both men ending up with first serve percentages in the low 50s, it ended up being decided from the back of the court and 30 unforced errors from Berdych proved his undoing.

Tsonga was quickly into his stride and moved ahead 4-2 as Berdych tossed in a scrappy service game, going well long on the Frenchman's second break point.

Tsonga soon wrapped up the opening set but after Berdych's series of dramatic comebacks this week, everyone knew the match was far from over. However Tsonga continued to mount up the pressure in set two and Berdych eventually cracked, double-faulting to go 4-3 down.

With victory in sight, Tsonga began to wobble and he handed the break right back but Berdych was unable to use the momentum to his advantage and his groundstrokes deserted him in the eleventh game allowing Tsonga to pounce, this time decisively.

"He was playing really solid and served well," Berdych said. "He just didn't give me chance at all. I had [one] break point [at 2-3] in the first set. If I made it, [it] could be different. I'm pleased with this week. It was a great experience for me. I'm going to try to do all that I can to come here again."
