Upsets at the Ordina Open as top seed Fernando Verdasco and second seed Tommy Robredo are knocked out in straight-sets losses in the second round of play.

German qualifier Benjamin Becker has recorded his first-career win over Fernando Verdasco at the Ordina Open, sending the top seed and outright favourite crashing in straight sets, 7-5, 7-6.

The 28-year-old Becker progresses to the Ordina Open final eight for the second time in his career, securing his fourth grass-court win of the season after also managing to reach the quarterfinals in Halle last week.

Benjamin Becker will move on to face Michael Llodra in the round of 16. Llodra having defeated Belgian qualifier Kristof Vliegen in his second-round match, 6-2, 6-3.

Marcos Baghdatis turned in a solid 7-5, 6-2 second-round performance to knock out the second-seeded Spaniard Tommy Robredo, advancing to the Ordina Open quarters for the first time since 2006.
